About

Corridor-based band A Rogue Wave formed in 2019 after the band members met while taking Irish dance lessons. They all shared a passion for Celtic music, and when they realized they each had unique musical talents, they decided to see what would happen when they combined forces.

They are Susan Kula on vocals/flute/bodhran, Nate Kula on bass/drums.

What started out as a fun experiment slowly blossomed into a cohesive unit with a unique sound. With the members also sharing a background in theatrical performance, they have crafted their shows into an engaging and entertaining experience!

Susan Kula’s first instrument was the flute, which she started playing in elementary school.  The enjoyment in playing this instrument carried her all the way through college, with the University of Iowa symphonic and marching bands.

She hadn’t considered singing (beyond some high school choir) until she saw a need within her husbands’ garage rock band.

Starting vocal lessons helped her step into that role, which then translated into singing for A Rogue Wave when it formed.  Celtic music provided the opportunity to reacquaint herself with the flute and, start learning the bodrhan.

As a lover of nature, Nathan Kula finds his love for the Thunder of his drums or the bass guitar a calling to his roots. Involved in many bands over the last 3 decades, Nathan always held his love for simple, good music close to his heart.

Wearing the Kilt as an homage to his Scots and Irish heritage, it also is a sign of his tribal tendencies. Though he is consigned to the rear of the stage, keep watch for his high energy and infectious rhythms!
